Reaching Lesotho for Jesus!

From 15 March to 19 March 2010, Dr Raymond Lombard, director of Wheels for God's Word, undertook an outreach to Mapoteng in Lesotho, by invitation of Pastor Robert Mahanoe. Pastor Raymond was accompanied by two team members of Wheels for God's Word, Thys Burger and Pieter de Villiers. The purpose of the outreach was to provide evangelism training to pastors and evangelists in Lesotho, as well as to distribute bicycles and other Christian materials to needy ministers.

The conference was held in Mapoteng, 72 kilometers from Maseru, the capital of Lesotho. Most of the ministers who attended the conference came from the rugged mountain kingdom of Lesotho. Some of them even arrived on horseback. There was great enthusiasm during the period of training. On the second day, during the practical session of their training, the ministers were sent out two by two and many souls were led to Christ. During the time of their testimony when they arrived back at the conference venue, we heard of many people who accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour for the first time. But there were also those who would not accept Jesus Christ into their life. Of the 42 who were trained, 30 received brand new 18-speed mountain bikes. Everybody received the Heart of Man chart, accompanying literature, Bibles (in their mother tongue SeSotho) and even clothes. These clothes will be of great help with the upcoming winter in the highlands of Lesotho.

What amazed us was that one particular pastor, although not receiving a bicycle. who was touched in a wonderful way by the Heart of Man chart, was dancing with joy when he received his Heart chart to evangelize. He saddled up his horse, and fixed the Heart chart to his saddle and left immediately for the highlands to go and evangelize his own people. It is the first time ever that we saw the Heart chart on horseback, traveling to very rough terrain where even a bicycle can hardly move.

In total, 42 leaders were trained, 30 received mountain bikes, 42 each received a Heart of Man chart, a pocket chart, 5 booklets in SeSotho, a Bible (in SeSotho) and clothes.
